Sunday Shockers – This Week’s Selection Of Top NFL Sunday Underdog Bets

Not the best week for me last week which means that with my two tips not panning out, I am now 9/14 on the season. That is still well above average (and more importantly, means a profit on the tips overall), but I want to improve on that this week.

Last week’s games was a real mixed bunch. We had some surprise results, such as the Dolphins beating the Ravens, the Panthers defeating the Cards and the 49ers getting the better of the Rams.

We also saw the Detroit Lions manage to not lose a game! Admittedly, they didn’t win it either, but a 16-16 tie against the Steelers does represent at least a bit of progress.

However, we also saw some blowout wins for top teams such as the Patriots, Cowboys, Chiefs and Bills, while the Titans managed to hang on in a battle of two excellent defenses in Tennessee as they just outlasted the Saints by stopping a two-point conversion late in the game.

We already know that this week the Patriots have made it five wins from five with a comfortable win over the Falcons in Atlanta, and with Monday Night’s game seeing the Bucs hosting the Giants on the back of a two-game skid, that promises to be an interesting match up too.

However, Sunday’s selection of games is intriguing with some big divisional games, including the Texans @ Titans, Packers @ Vikings, Cardinals @ Seahawks and the Dolphins facing off against the Jets.

Let’s take a look at the full list of games taking place later today and this week, I am going to use odds taken from BetRivers Sportsbook.

Sunday Shocker Picks For Week Eleven

Looking through the list of games this week, there are a number of games that could be ripe for an upset, and a few that look somewhat unlikely.

First off could the Lions end their nine-game streak without a win this season against the Browns, another team in seeming free-fall? I’m not too sure on that one, same goes for the Texans and Titans as in this game, the Texans usually give the Titans a real run for their money but I can’t see Houston managing that this time even with the Titans lengthy injury list on offense.

However, there are some games where I think there is a real chance of an upset and my two picks for this weekend are listed below.

Sunday Shocker 1 – Dallas Cowboys to beat the Kansas City Chiefs

Last week, both these teams got back to form in a big way. The Chiefs destroyed the Raiders with their first power offense performance of the season and the feeling is that Andy Reid’s much vaunted offense may now be back on track.

However, the Dallas Cowboys also got back to winning ways with a thumping win over the Atlanta Falcons and given that the Cowboys have much the better record of the two teams heading into this game (7-2 as opposed to 6-4 for the Chiefs), my gut feeling here is that the odds setters have perhaps moved towards the Chiefs a little too much.

Sure, the Chiefs have that powerful offense which was in synch last week, but that was against a Raiders side who were so one-dimensional, with no running game to speak of, that the Chiefs were able to stop them on defense and allow their offense to take control of the game.

I can’t see them doing that against a Cowboys side that is better in all facets of the game than the Raiders and who, in Micah Parsons, have a genuine rookie of the year candidate who could cause havoc in the Chiefs back field.

Let’s not forget, the Chiefs were bottom of their division for a long time and last week was their first big performance of the season. The Cowboys have been playing at that level for most of the season and hence I am backing them here despite them being the +2.5 underdogs.

Take the Cowboys to win at +118 on the money line, Over 56 points and I’d also back them to cover the spread too at -112.

Sunday Shocker 2 – Pittsburgh Steelers to beat the Los Angeles Chargers

I think the tie with the Lions last week has put the odds-setters a little against the Steelers, but before that game, the Steelers had been playing hard to get themselves back into contention in the AFC North.

The key to this seems to be the likely absence of Ben Roethlisberger at quarterback for the Steelers, but to be honest, I think Mason Rudolph can come in and do a decent job. I just think the Steelers need to help out their young quarterback a bit better than they did against the Lions.

Justin Herbert is going to find this defense a very tough nut to crack given how well the Steelers have played on defense this season and while this will be a close one, I do feel that the Steelers have enough quality on defense, to give the Chargers problems.

And if you can close down the effectiveness of Herbert, Allen and Ekeler, then you go a long way towards beating the Chargers and that is what I see the Steelers doing.

At +6.5 I’d take them to cover that spread and the +230 on the win looks decent value although I would go for under 47 points at -109.
