So far, we are 4/4 on our longer odds picks in the NFL on a Sunday with last week seeing the Eagles and the Bills laying down notable victories over the Panthers and the Chiefs.
That followed on from a successful opening week where we tipped the Cardinals to win, who haven’t lost a game all season so far, as well as the Jets to beat the Titans. So yeah, you can say that I’m feeling pretty good about things at the moment!
Anyway, we turn our attention to a new set of Sunday games, and a smaller than usual selection due to four teams being on their bye week this week.
The Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers are the first teams to be resting a week, with the remaining 28 teams in action.
Let’s take a look at this week’s games in more detail and as always, all odds provided here are courtesy of BetRivers Sportsbook.

So, are there any matchups in this set of Week 6 games that offer us the potential of another shock win for the underdog? I have to be honest and say that I don’t think this week is as conducive to surprise results as last week, but I will have a shot at the following:
Could The Jacksonville Jaguars Land A First Win At The 21st Attempt?
The Jacksonville Jaguars have not won an NFL Game since Week One of the 2020-21 season, when they bettered the Indianapolis Colts.
Fifteen defeats followed over the remainder of the season and this year, despite bringing in Urban Meyer and drafting Trevor Lawrence with the first pick of the draft last April, the Jaguars have not gone 0-5 this season.
The record for consecutive losses in the NFL is an unwanted record held by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but I am not sure the Jaguars losing record will continue beyond this week.
After beating the Patriots narrowly in their season opener, the Miami Dolphins have seen their star QB go down injured and with him, their hopes of a strong season in the AFC East seem to have disappeared.
They’ve been thrashed by the Bucs and Bills and beaten by the Colts and Raiders, the latter two not particularly strong teams.
The Jags have faced four opponents with genuine playoff aspirations this season (Titans, Bengals, Cardinals and Broncos) and there is no doubt that Trevor Lawrence is improving.
I feel this is the week he gets that monkey of the first win in the NFL off his back as I’d back the Jaguars to land the win at +155 on the moneyline with BetRivers.
Cardinals To Better The Browns?
I am absolutely staggered to see that the Cleveland Browns are the -3 favourites to win their game with the 5-0 Arizona Cardinals this weekend. Sure the Browns are at home and they put up 42 points last week against the Chargers, but the Cardinals have already beaten some very impressive teams in the NFL this season.
I do feel that Kyler Murray and company are a victim of people not quite believing they are as good as their record suggests. I’n not one of them.
Sure, they have had one easy game in that run, against the Jags, but they have beat the Vikings, Titans, 49ers and most impressively, the Rams. Not only that, but they have done it in a variety of ways, largely by point-scoring on offense but a strong defensive display against the 49ers was the catalyst for that win.
Cleveland have shown that they can put up points against anybody, but in addition Baker Mayfield has had his problems at QB against quality defenses and I think that is what the Cardinals possess, especially when it comes to pass rushing.
As I said, I was shocked to see the Cardinals as the+3 underdogs here and I would take them all day long to cover that spread and also land the win, which for a moneyline bet offers odds of +148 with BetRivers.
Let’s see if this duo of Sunday tips can keep my perfect record so far this season going!
