BestBetUSA NFL Power Rankings – Week Seven

After the nightmare on Kicker Street in Week Five of the NFL, this week saw the Kickers strike back with two nailing game winning field goals for their team either as time expired or in overtime. However, there was a much more consistent performance from kickers all round this week.

That said there was still plenty of drama elsewhere, including Bills head coach Sean McDermott going for it late in the game on a fourth and 1 against the Titans and not converting it, handing the Titans the chance to run out the clock and beat Buffalo.

However, the big news this week was that the Jacksonville Jaguars finally got their first victory after a 20 game losing streak, defeating the Miami Dolphins. So how will that affect the NFL Rankings this week? Let’s take a look at the results in detail first before we find out.

NFL Week Six Results

NFL Results – Week Six So Far

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-1) 28-22 Philadelphia Eagles (2-4)
  • Miami Dolphins (1-5) 20-23 Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5)
  • Kansas City Chiefs (3-3) 31-13 Washington Football Team (2-4)
  • Los Angeles Rams (5-1) 38-11 New York Giants (1-5)
  • Houston Texans (1-5) 3-31 Indianapolis Colts (2-4)
  • Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) 34-11 Detroit Lions (0-6)
  • Green Bay Packers (5-1) 24-14 Chicago Bears (3-3)
  • Los Angeles Chargers (4-2) 6-34 Baltimore Ravens (5-1)
  • Minnesota Vikings (3-3) 34-28 Carolina Panthers (3-3) OT
  • Arizona Cardinals (6-0) 37-14 Cleveland Browns (3-3)
  • Las Vegas Raiders (4-2) 34-24 Denver Broncos (3-3)
  • Dallas Cowboys (5-1) 35-29 New England Patriots (2-4) OT
  • Seattle Seahawks (2-4) 20-23 Pittsburgh Steelers (3-3) OT
  • Buffalo Bills (4-2) 31-34 Tennessee Titans (4-2)
  • Bye Week – New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints

So what were the standout wins this week? The Ravens produced an eye-catching and dominant performance against the Los Angeles Chargers, especially on defense, in a game that really did make people sit up and take notice.

Similarly the Cardinals, who along with the Jaguars I tipped for the upset win on Sunday morning, produced yet another outstanding display to dominate a strong Cleveland Browns team 37-14 in Cleveland. I keep telling you these Cardinals are the real deal!

Finally, will the real Tennessee Titans stand up? Are you a team that loses to the Jets, or one that beats the Bills? Dallas, Cincinnati and the Steelers also picked up good wins, while the Panthers and Broncos, who were both 3-0 are not both 3-3 after another defeat.

Let’s see how these results affect the rankings this week.

BBUSA – Power Rankings Week 7 – Top 10

  1. Arizona Cardinals (1) – 6-0

I’ve said it since week one when they pounded the Titans, this Cardinals team is a beast. Another excellent win on the road, this time against the fancied Browns, who started the game as favorites with the bookmakers means that there is no way that the Cards are being knocked off top spot in the rankings just yet.

  1. Baltimore Ravens (4) – 5-1

Now that was a statement win by the Ravens. The Chargers were expected to give the Ravens a real test, but the Ravens blew them away in all three aspects of the game. On the back of such an excellent display, the Ravens have to climb to near the summit.

  1. Dallas Cowboys (5) – 5-1

Few teams are quite as rounded as the Cowboys and they showed that once again with an overtime win over New England at Foxboro. A win against Belichick on his own turf is rare but the Cowboys fully deserved it and in Trevon Diggs, they have a candidate for one of the best defensive players of the season. The Cowboys weren’t perfect but they keep winning – a sign of a good team.

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4) – 5-1

The Bucs went on the road to Philly and emerged with an important win on Thursday night. In truth, they dominated the large majority of the game but let the Eagles come back into it late on. Brady has the team ticking over nicely and they are looking very tough to beat although tougher tests lie on the horizon.

  1. Los Angeles Rams (6) – 5-1

This was another fine performance from the Rams who under Matt Stafford have become one of the most potent offenses in the NFC. The Giants are not the strongest team, hence only the small climb up the rankings, but this Rams team has the ability to beat anybody and they did this without Aaron Donald on defense too.

  1. Buffalo Bills (2) – 4-2

A drop down the rankings for the Bills on the back of their defeat to the Titans on Monday night. It was a game that Buffalo could easily have won but for some huge plays made by Titans. However the Titans offense showed that the Bills defense is not impregnable and that will be a worry. However the Bills offense is still very dangerous and they are still a top five team on a good day. This wasn’t one.

  1. Green Bay Packers (8) – 5-1

It’s rare for Aaron Rodgers to show much emotion, but beating Chicago in the windy city does seem to get him fired up. Rodgers and Davante Adams are as good a QB/WR partnership as there is in the NFL at the moment, but while the Packers are 5-1, I am not sure they have the strength in depth of some of the other top teams.

  1. Los Angeles Chargers (7) – 4-2

It was a salutary lesson for the Chargers this week as they went up against the Ravens and ran into a brickwall defense. Justin Herbert hasn’t had many days in the NFL like this and he will bounce back, but it did show that the Chargers need to have some kind of rushing game against the best teams otherwise they are not going to get into that elite group.

  1. Tennessee Titans (13) – 4-2

The Titans bounced back into the top ten for the first time in a few weeks on the back of that huge win over the Bills on Monday night. The defense is a huge concern for Titans fans, but if you have Derrick Henry smashing through one of the best rush defenses in the league and getting 136 yards off just 20 carries, plus AJ Brown and Julio Jones in tandem nicely, you always stand a chance of outscoring the opponent.

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (10) – 3-3

The Chiefs are not as impressive this season as they have been the past two years but they are still a formidable team. A good win over Washington, coming on the back of a much improved second half display sees them hold onto their place in the top ten. And with the Titans next week, they face a real test of their credentials.

BBUSA – Power Rankings 11 to 32

  1. Cincinnati Bengals (11) – 4-2
  2. New Orleans Saints (12) – 3-2
  3. Cleveland Browns (9) – 3-3
  4. Pittsburgh Steelers (17) – 3-3
  5. Las Vegas Raiders (19) – 4-2
  6. Minnesota Vikings (18) – 3-3
  7. Chicago Bears (14) – 3-3
  8. Denver Broncos (15) – 3-3
  9. Carolina Panthers (16) – 3-3
  10. San Francisco 49ers (20) – 2-3
  11. Atlanta Falcons (22) – 2-3
  12. Indianapolis Colts (26) – 2-4
  13. Philadelphia Eagles (21) – 2-4
  14. Seattle Seahawks (22) – 2-4
  15. New England Patriots (24) – 2-4
  16. Washington Football Team (25) – 2-4
  17. New York Jets (30) – 1-4
  18. New York Giants (27) – 1-5
  19. Jacksonville Jaguars (32) – 1-5
  20. Miami Dolphins (29) – 1-5
  21. Detroit Lions (31) – 0-6
  22. Houston Texans (28) – 1-5

The big news outside the top ten is that the Jaguars have elevated themselves to 29th ahead of the Texans, Lions and Dolphins. The Texans miserable form means I have them ranked lower than the Lions, even though the Lions are yet to win a game.

The Browns drop out of the top ten and the Panthers and Broncos continue to fall, while the Raiders bounced back this week and the Vikings and Steelers continue their improved form to climb up the rankings. The Colts moved up a few spots, with their big win over Houston.

Next week sees a whole host of teams on a Bye Week with the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers all putting their feet up and recuperating.

Big games next week include the Chiefs taking on the Titans on Sunday in what should be a fantastic duel between two high power offenses and two defenses that have struggled this season. We also have the Bengals taking on the Ravens, while the Cardinals seek to go 7-0 against the Houston Texans.

Join us next week to see how the results of those games change our Power Rankings!
