In the NBA, players will sometimes down tools to engineer a move away from their current organization.
At other times, players just somehow manage to put their foot in it and make their position at their current franchise untenable.
Now Team USA gold medallist, Draymond Green may well have done that due to comments he made in a ‘clear their air’ discussion with Kevin Durant, a player with whom he has feuded since 2018.
Friendship Turned Sour
In May 2016, Green and Durant (pictured) struck up a friendship in the Western Conference Finals
between the Golden State Warriors, for whom Durant played, and the Oklahoma City Thunder, who had Durant in their ranks.
Durant angered his Thunder teammates back then by socializing with Green during the series, which led to Durant leaving the Thunder.
After the Warriors lost Game 7 of the NBA Finals that year, Green reportedly tried to recruit Durant to join the Warriors while sitting in the parking lot after the tough-to-take defeat to the Cavaliers. By July, Durant was the newest member of the Warriors squad.
However, things didn’t go so well. In June 2017, the Warriors won the NBA Finals, but over the course of the season, Green and Durant were seen arguing on court a number of times. A repeat success in 2018, without any incidents seemed to imply that things between the pair were now good.
However, in the 2018/19 season, things started to unravel. With Durant’s future at the Warriors in question as free agency approached in 2019, the two became involved in a very public shouting match in a game against the Los Angeles Clippers, which continued in the locker room post-game.
Green received a one-game suspension for what happened.
However, at the end of 2019, Kevin Durant moved on to the Brooklyn Nets and rumors of a feud between the two have persisted to the present day.
Face To Face Interview
So in a recent face to face interview, Green asked whether it was the argument between the pair that had eventually led to Durant leaving the Warriors.
Durant denied it was and instead laid the blame on Bob Myers and Steve Kerr for how they handled, or more accurately failed to handle, that situation.
Now with Green still employed by Myers and Kerr at the Warriors, you would perhaps expect Green to leap to his head coach and owner’s defense, but instead, Green agreed that the two men in charge in Golden State had made a complete hash of the situation.
The interview led to plenty of speculation on Twitter that as a result, Draymond Green may well have played his final game for the Golden State Warriors.
Draymond throwing his organization he still plays for under the bus… Draymond days as a warriors is over after this interview, hello Ben Simmons

There has already been a number of people wondering whether another defensive player that seemingly wants away from his current franchise, could be part of another blockbuster NBA deal, with the Philadelphia 76ers Ben Simmons being a potential trade partner for Green.
Simmons has been the butt of many a joke on Twitter due to his poor point scoring this season, and it does seem his time in Philadelphia may be drawing to a close.
It remains to be seen whether the 76ers and Warriors could agree a term to trade players, or even if either team wants to do so, but there is no doubt that Green’s situation is now perilous in California after the comments in the video.
His friendship with KD may have been salvaged, but at what cost?
