NBA Late Swaps will be Removed

In the biggest change since last season, DraftKings has removed the NBA late swap feature, which has been popular with some high-volume players. The change means that once the first game starts, that lineup changes for later games will not be allowed. This will make later games more of a guessing game and have to go into your strategy for building lineups.. If there is some uncertainty of whether a player will start, you will need to make the appropriate judgement call before the start of the first game.

This change is favorable to less skilled players, the type who tend to set their lineups and then forgot about it after the game was over. Higher skilled players who constantly monitored news feeds used this feature to their advantage, swapping out players at the last minute who were scratched from a game.

Although this new policy change has fans on both sides, the update has been met with a lot of resistance from certain players. Some players have claimed this was a major benefit of playing DraftKings NBA over FanDuel and provided these players that were paying attention with an edge. Ironically, this is likely why DraftKings removed the feature for this season. Despite the change DraftKings late swap changes, there are no plans to remove this feature for other sports at this time.

DraftKings joins the vast majority of DFS sites in not allowing late swaps. If you want to continue to play daily fantasy basketball with late swaps, you will need to play on the Yahoo Daily Fantasy site.

More Liberal Use of Positions

Starting this season, DraftKings will allow certain players to be eligible for two positions. DraftKings cited Kevin Love as an example. He will now be eligible to play the forward position as well as center. This change will allow DraftKings players more flexibility in setting their lineup.

Unlike the DraftKings late swap feature change, this change has been almost universally praised by players.
