Embiid Out But 76ers Still Produce A Dominant Display

With Joel Embiid ruled out with a right knee meniscus tear, the 76ers moved Ben Simmons to center for this game and he responded with a fine triple-double to play a key role in the 76ers 129-112 victory over the Wizards.

Seth Curry and Tobias Harris shared the majority of the scoring burden with Curry hitting 30 points and Harris 28, with Simmons contributing 19 alongside 11 assists and 10 rebounds.

Bradley Beal hit 32 points in response for the Wizards, with Russell Westbrook contributing 24, but the Wizards were outdone by a strong team performance by Philadelphia which will serve the team well going forward.

Embiid is day to day with his injury and his status for their first game against the Hawks is not yet clear, although he did come out onto court and warm up ahead of the game despite not playing.

Young Shines Once Again As Hawks Swoop To Beat Knicks

The Atlanta Hawks have relied heavily on Trae Young throughout this season and the star man did not disappoint once again, leading the Hawks with 36 points as they claimed the 4-1 series victory over the disappointing New York Knicks thanks to a 103-89 win last night.

It was another solid if unspectacular performance by the Hawks against a Knicks team who struggled to recapture their decent from from the end of the regular season in the playoffs.

The game went away from the Knicks in the second and third quarters as they opened up a 12-point lead which the Knicks never looked like being able to pull back.

Rampant First Quarter Sees Jazz Tame Grizzlies

The Utah Jazz became the first team from the Western Conference to earn a spot in the semifinals as they wrapped up a 4-1 series win over the Memphis Grizzlies. After losing the opening game, the Jazz found another gear to rattle off four wins in a row to emphatically move into the next round.

They ran away with things in last night’s games after a stellar first quarter were they raced into a 20 point lead thanks to scoring a huge 47 points. By the end of the third quarter that lead had been extended to 30 points and a fourth quarter comeback by the Grizzlies still fell well short.

Donovan Mitchell scored 30 points with 10 assists and 6 rebounds, while Rudy Gobert was influential with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Jordan Clarkson contributed 24 points too.

Clippers And Mavericks Go To Game Six

The Jazz will face either the Los Angeles Clippers or the Dallas Mavericks with this topsy turvy series now set at 3-2 to Dallas. All five wins in this series have come on the road and the Mavs relied on a big game from Luka Doncic, who hit 42 points alongside 14 assists and 8 rebounds to steer them to victory.

Tim Hardaway Jr. contributed 20 points as the two dominated the scoring for Dallas in the game.

The Mavericks can now clinch a semifinal spot with a win in the next game in the series back in Dallas on Friday night, while tonight the Denver Nuggets can clinch with a win over the Portland Trail Blazers, while the Phoenix Suns could do likewise and knock out the Los Angeles Lakers with a win in game six of their series.
