Daily fantasy MMA, like daily fantasy football, is a bit of a misnomer. Contests don’t typically run daily, but whenever there is major UFC event, usually every week or so.

On the night of a fight, players can find guaranteed tournaments up to $200,000 at DraftKings. There are also head to head contests as well as some other leagues mixed in. Other contest types such as 50/50s, double-ups and multipliers don’t run as frequently. These contests are posted a few days before the contests begin.

There are many reasons to play MMA including large entertainment value, not to mention that the game is easier and more accessible to more casual players.

So how to the rules and scoring work at DraftKings UFC and MMA contests?

DraftKings MMA Scoring and Rules

For all DraftKings UFC and MMA contests, you will be given a fictional $50,000 salary cap to draft your five man roster. The list of fighters consists of all those that are anticipated to participate in the event and their salaries will not change once the contest has been posted.

Of the fighters that you draft, they will accumulate points based on the following stat categories (DraftKings abbreviations in parenthesis):

Moves Scoring

Significant Strikes (SS): +0.5 Points
Advance (ADVC): 1 Point
Takedown (TD): 2 Points
Reversal/Sweep (REV): 2 Points
Knockdown (KD): 3 Points

“Significant Strikes” are defined as any distance strike or clinch/ground strikes that are ruled “Power Strikes” by official MMA scorers. “Advances” count in the following instances: to half guard, to slide control, to mount or to back control.

Fight Conclusion Bonuses

In addition to scoring for moves, additional fight conclusion bonuses are awarded for each round and again at the completion of the fight:

1st Round Win (1rW+): 100 Points
2nd Round Win (2rW+): 70 Points
3rd Round Win (3rW+): 50 Points
4th Round Win (4rW+): 40 Points
5th Round Win (5rW+): 40 Points
Decision Win (WBD+) : 25 Points

All players will lock upon the start of the first fight of the night.
