UFC 275 this weekend will see controversial Irishman Connor McGregor return to the ring against Dustin Poirier. To celebrate the second bout between the two explosive MMA fighters, DraftKings Sportsbook is offering an exciting promotion for new customers.
The offer is one of the company’s famous boosted odds promotions, with new customers offered the chance to win $257 for just a $1 bet, if Connor McGregor wins by a knockout in the first round of the contest.
It’s worth remembering that this is what the Irishman did when the two fighters met back in 2014.

How Do McGregor And Poirier Shape Up?
Having seen McGregor’s dominant victory in the first fight between the two fighters in September 2014, it is tempting to think that the Irishman is going to have an easy night of it. That may not be the case.
Since that loss to McGregor, Poirier recovered his form and his only losses since have been to Michael Johnson in September 2016 and the retired 29-0 world champion Khabib Nurmagomedov three years later.
In that time, Poirier has faced and beaten a number of top UFC lightweight fighters including Eddie Alvarez, Justin Gaethje, Anthony Pettis, Max Holloway and last time out he beat Dan Hooker to take his record to 26-6.
In contrast McGregor has not been in action anywhere near as often as Poirier. After losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018, McGregor’s only bout since was a first round knockout in 40 seconds of Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.
It is worth noting here though that McGregor does have a 22-4 overall record with wins over Nate Diaz, Eddie Alvarez, Jose Aldo, Chad Mendes and of course, Dustin Poirier amongst those victories.
What Is Our Top Tip For The Fight?
If you are a customer that is looking for the fighter to back, then the odds from DraftKings Sportsbook make for interesting reading. They have McGregor as the -305 favorite to win the fight, with Poirier the +250 underdog.
This should be a much closer fight than the first contest between these two fighters. Poirier has rebuilt his career since then and has gained plenty of top level experience ahead of this fight. McGregor in contrast has not been as active and that could tilt the scales more in favour of Poirier.
There’s no doubt that McGregor does have a touch of magic about him at times and he will probably be relying on that in this fight. However, I expect Poirier’s experience to stand him in good stead here. He won’t make the same mistakes that he did in the first fight.
As such, I think even though he is the underdog, if you are going to have a bet, I’d be taking the +250 on Poirier.
