After the excitement of the Olympics golf tournament, which was deservedly won by Xander Schauffele, this week many of the world’s top players will return to action at this weekend’s Barracuda Championship.
And if you decide to have a wager on which of the top players in the field you think will win the event with BetMGM Sportsbook, then you will be able to do so safe in the knowledge that you can pick up a mulligan if your golfer doesn’t win, but finishes in the top five!
That’s because if that happens, then you will receive your stake back as a Free Bet (up to a maximum Free Bet value of $25).

So who will be contesting the tournament this weekend? Let’s take a closer look at the event to find out and give you some ideas on who to back for this offer.
The Barracuda Championship
The Tahoe Mountain Club, also known as Old Greenwood, will be the venue for the Barracuda Championship which starts on Thursday in California.
Last year, Richy Werenski earned the victory at the tournament and back in 2019, Collin Morikawa birdied the last three holes to win the tournament in just his sixth start as a pro.
What is unusual about this event is that rather than using the standard scoring system, it uses a modified Stableford scoring system to decide the winner.
Played at the same time as the WGC Fedex St Jude Invitational, it does have a field that doesn’t include too many of the world’s top stars, but that does mean that the betting options on the tournament are generally excellent value.
Players To Watch
Branden Grace, Emiliano Grillo, Gary Woodland and Mark McNealy are all rated as 18/1 co-favorites to win the event.
Another interesting player to consider is Troy Merritt at 25/1. Although not a big name on the PGA Tour, he has finished second in the past two years of this event and he is well worthy of consideration for this offer, especially with it extending to the top five finishers.
Other names in the field include Brandt Snedeker (33/1), Ryan Moore (28/1), Thomas Pieters (33/1), Adam Hadwin (35/1), Pat Perez (45/1), Matt Kuchar (60/1), Tom Lewis (70/1), Rafael Cabrera-Bello (100/1) and last years winner Richy Werenski is a 66/1 shot to repeat his success.
The Stableford format does put a premium on birdies and eagles, and as such, I think the winner will be the player that manages to tame what looks like a very inviting course in California this weekend.
If I was going to bet on this event, then Troy Merritt would be my pick, so who are you going to back?
