DraftKings college football contests make a return for the 2018 season in 27 states.
In a surprise announcement this week, DraftKings revealed the return of college football DFS contests, just in time for the start of the 2018 college football season.
The contests will not be available in all states, however, only the 27 states were state laws are favorable. This means that some 13 of the states that DraftKings serves will not able to play college football DFS, while continuing to enjoy DFS for other sports.
What states can you play DraftKings college football?
Players in 27 states will have access to DraftKings college sports contests. This could change in the coming months and years as sports betting legalization spreads, which is undoubtedly a catalyst for the changes.
For now, the following states can enter contests during the 2018-2019 season.

If DFS is legal in your state — as is the case in Pennsylvania — college sports is likely not offered due to specific laws in the state which expressly forbid playing the games.
How to play DraftKings college football
DraftKings college football contests will come in two forms for this season, Classic and Showdown.
With Classic Contests, DraftKings users will draft a lineup while staying under a $50,000 salary cap. Rosters consist of 1 quarterback, 2 running backs, 3 wide receivers, 1 flex and 1 super flex. Flex positions can be drafted from running backs and wide receivers, while the Super Flex position adds quarterbacks to the mix.
In DraftKings Showdown contests, you will draft players from a single game while staying under a $50,000 salary cap. Unlike Classic contests, you will need to fill in six roster sports comprising of five utility positions and a “Captain.” Utility positions can include quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and kickers. The captain position earns 1.5x the standard rate of points.
