Beckett Media has officially launched their new daily fantasy sports site, accessible from Beckett.com. Beckett, which is most commonly known among sports fans as the name behind the popular sports card price guides and grading services, purchased WPS Fantasy in April 2014 to begin branching out into the fantasy sports world.
The launch of Beckett Fantasy comes just two weeks after an announcement by Beckett of a new director earlier this month.
Like other daily fantasy sports websites, Beckett has established a mission to engage and enhance the sports fan experience, which Beckett has traditionally done with great success in its price guide and grading business. Players that sign-up to Beckett Fantasy are greeted with a welcome message that echos that sentiment.
Our objective is to provide an engaging, legal and safe destination for sports fans of all levels to play fantasy sports games, win money and have fun with their friends, family and community of like-minded fans.
Games Offered at Beckett Media Fantasy Sports
As a new daily fantasy sports site, Beckett does not currently have a lot of game activity, with most of the action we witnessed at the MLB “Free Rookie” League games. We did see some real money action running though already, including a small selection of entries at the lower buy-in games.
The lobby has filters for Leagues, Head-2-Head, 50/50, Tournament, Double Up and Triple Up contests. At this present time, only league and 50/50 games are available to start or join contests, something that is likely to change soon.
Because of the time of year, only MLB games are offered. The $45,000 cap games are offered with buyins of $2.70-$270 with league sizes ranging from 3 to 100.

Incentives for Beckett Fantasy Players
One way Beckett is trying to stand out is by offering unique sign-up incentive packages that combine free tournament entries with elements of their traditional business.
Upon signup, Beckett is giving players a choice of one of four sign-up bonus offers, all of which include a free entry — ranging from $2-$25, depending on the offer. Naturally, Beckett is also tying in their famous price guide with access to a digital price guide.
Full deposit bonus options when signing up to Beckett media include:
–Deposit $10-$19: Free Entry to a $2 invitation only contest
–Deposit $20-$49: Receive choice of a free entry to a $5 invitation only contest, 5 days free access to online

Do DFS Players Need Beckett Fantasy?
With over a dozen daily fantasy sports sites, it’s a fair question to ask if Beckett Media has a place in the market. Do we know whether the industry is clamoring for a new daily fantasy sports site?
Market leaders FanDuel and DraftKings are able to provide players with huge promotions, large guarantees and constant abundant action. A handful of smaller daily fantasy sports sites such as DraftDay and FantasyAces do a pretty solid job of filling the gap.
What Beckett does provide players is name recognition, having originally launched some 30 years ago. Whether they will be able to convert large numbers of players through their unique fantasy sports product is up in the air.
