The 2021 World Series of Poker is becoming more clear after the WSOP announced a general series of dates for when poker’s biggest festival will be held.
Although the WSOP will again be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, it will look a lot more than normal than last year’s. Still, it will be quite different than year’s past, notably with a major change of dates.
The WSOP will be split intwo three main parts this year: WSOP Online, the WSOP in Las Vegas and WSOP Europe. Each will be run independently of each other.
Ty Stewart, a WSOP Executive Director, had this to say about returning to a live World Series of Poker.
“This year, more than ever, we embrace our role at the WSOP to deliver memorable experiences and bring this community of poker lovers back together. In 2021, the theme is, get vaccinated and get back to Vegas.”
This isn't an April Fools' Joke : the WSOP is back. We couldn’t wait another day to share the good news :

WSOP at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino
Perhaps most notably, the 2021 World Series of Poker will return to its live setting at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, pending approvals of Nevada and regulatory approvals.
Current plans are to run the tournament over two months from Septebmer 20th to November 23rd. The opening weekend will include a $25,000 HORSE event as well as a $5 million guaranteed No Limit Hold’em “Reunion” event.
Although not set in stone, the 2021 WSOP Main Event is currently penciled in for November 4th to November 17th, a much later start time compared to the traditional July timeframe. The later dates are meant to address safety concerns and hopefully give the COVID-19 pandemic more time to run its course.
WSOP Online 2021
While there may not be World Series of Poker action at the Rio this summer, there will still be plenty of events to be played through WSOP.com (Nevada and New Jersey) and GG Poker (rest of the world). Like last year, WSOP Online 2021 promises to “fill the summer voide again with an exciting slate of WSOP Gold Braclet online events.”
WSOP.com will begin holding tournaments for U.S. players in eligible states on July 1st. A full schedule of WSOP.com will be released on April 15th while GG Poker events are expected to be announced later in the month.
WSOP Europe 2021
WSOP Europe will also make its return to the King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. Again, it will need to be subject to regulatory approval, but if all goes according to plan, WSOP Europe will be held just after the conclusion of the Las Vegas WSOP.com series.
The current expectation is that it will run from November 19th through December 8th.
Players can expect to compete for 15 bracelet events, which will include a 10,000 euro Main Event as well as a 50,000 euro High Roller tournament.
