Weekend Hit and Run: Watson Wins Aussie Open, Givens Reigns at Borgata, and Latest on Scheinberg Arrest

The tournament scene was vibrant the world over this weekend. Following the conclusion of the Aussie Millions, Mike Watson found victory in the inaugural Australian Poker Open $10k. Will Givens picked up another trophy in Borgata defeating Anthony Zinno heads-up. Mike Watson Wins Event #1 at Aussie Open for $177K

Canadian pro Mike Watson is the inaugural champion of Event #1 of the Australian Poker Open. He won the $10k opening NLHE event for a cool $177,000 AUD!

Watson was all smiles after the event saying, “I’m thrilled to have won it. Especially in these series it’s great to get off to a good start and set the tone, get your confidence high, and try to make a run for that player of the series title. It’s also the first live event I’ve won a little while, so that monkey’s off my back.”

Watson defeated an obviously stacked final table that included Ben Lamb, Elio Fox, and Luc Greenwood. Here are all the final table payouts courtesy of PokerCentral. Congrats to all the big winners!

Givens Defeats Zinno in Borgata $1k for 91K

Will Givens can now put another trophy on his mantle after winning the Event #14 1k 6-MAx at the Borgata for $91,000! Givens defeated a very tough opponent heads-up in Anthony Zinno to claim the victory.

Ryan Eriquezzo was another bracelet winner at the final table. The big $3500 WPT Borgata event is the next big event on the schedule. Be sure to stay glued to PTP, PokerNews, and the WPT website to see who makes a deep run.
