Tom Dwan Interview with Nick Schulman

Tom Dwan Talks High Stakes Poker, Kidnapping, In New Interview With PokerKing

Over the last 10 plus years, Tom Dwan has been one of the biggest and most widely respected poker players on the planet. However, over the last few years, Dwan has increasingly been out of the limelight, instead focusing on other endeavors and spending a lot of his poker playing time in Asia.

Dwan emerges in new interview

In good news for his fans, that seems to be quickly changing. Dwan recently teased an appearance in the revamped High Stakes Poker, which is set for new episodes beginning this December on PokerGo. It will be the first time in nine years since the poker world can watch a new episode of the HSP.

Now, poker fans of Dwan have even more to chew on with Poker King releasing the first part of a recent exclusive interview with the poker legend. Dwan sits down with the engaging Nick Schulman in an “Ask Me Anything” interview. Questions were submitted through a Reddit AMA post and 2+2.

The interview comes on the heels of a highly accompanied interview that Poker King did with Phil Ivey, who has also taken a bit of a step back from the limelight. Check out the clip below with more to be released over the next few Mondays, which poker fans can watch through the Poker King YouTube channel. Check out the first episode below.

In the first portion of the interview, Dwan discusses the new High Stakes Poker, whether the game of poker has crushed him mentally, the most he’s won and lost in a single day and a tongue-in-cheek question of whether he has ever been kidnapped by the Asian mafia.

Check out part 2 of the interview, where he discusses short deck Hold’em and how he tries not to care about acting stupid.

More about the return of High Stakes Poker

High Stakes Poker went off in the air in 2011 after running for over five years. The show, which was broadcast on the Game Show Network and other stations, was a premier live poker show of its time, featuring some of the greats such as Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Tom Dwan and many others.

The new show will be streamed on PokerGo, which acquired the franchise earlier this year. Poker fans can access the new show through a monthly subscription to the service for 90000. The first episode is scheduled to be released on December 16th. Players are expected to play for high stakes of $200/$400 to $400/$800 NLHE and utilize the big blind ante format.

In a Tom Dwan video from the filming, players such as Phil Hellmuth, Jason Koon and Phil Ivey could be seen at the table, suggesting the new show could rival the classic.
