SAHARA Las Vegas Poker Room

SAHARA Las Vegas Poker Room Opens This Friday

The SAHARA Las Vegas poker room will offer seven real money tables starting Friday, February 14th.

The SAHARA Las Vegas Hotel & Casino has announced that its all-new live poker room will open to the gambling public starting Friday, February 14th.

According to the casino’s official press release, the poker room will operate daily from 10:00AM to 2:00AM local time — offering seven tables of real money action for Texas Hold’em, 7 Card Stud, and Pot Limit Omaha players.

SAHARA Las Vegas Poker Room Returns

This Valentine’s Day will mark the first time poker has been available at SAHARA Las Vegas since 2011, when the property closed its doors for three years of renovations. The casino re-opened in 2014 as SLS, but returned to its traditional SAHARA Las Vegas brand name in June 2019.

Grand Opening Celebration Planned for February 21st

One week following the launch of its new poker room, SAHARA will hold a grand opening celebration for players that will include “champagne, hors d’oeuvres, branded swag, gift cards and giveaways.” The casino adds that “bounties will also be in play for the exciting event.

SAHARA Las Vegas Poker Room Rake & Promotions

According to the press release, the new SARAHA Las Vegas poker room’s games will be raked at 10% with a $4 per-hand maximum.

Players will receive $2 per-hour in reward points (redeemable at the property’s restaurants) upon signing up through Poker Atlas, with more benefits available to preferred patrons through Club 52.

Low stakes No Limit Hold’em poker tournaments are scheduled to run multiple times each day at the new poker room, with buy-ins ranging from $45 to $100 USD.

No Cashier Available in Poker Room?

Poker Fraud Alert administrator Todd Witteles is reporting (via an “inside source”) that the SAHARA Las Vegas will not have a cashier physically located within the poker room.

That bit of information (if it is revealed to be true this Friday) could result in meaningful inconvenience for poker players who — as Witteles points out — will be forced to cash out their chips from a separate “main” cage located on the property.

UPDATE: Soon after this article’s publication, Twitter user @ron200sx informed Part Time Poker that even if there will be no dedicated cashier cage in the new SAHARA Las Vegas poker room, “the casino cashier is like 10-15 steps from the poker room.”

Live Las Vegas Poker Rooms

The decline of Las Vegas along with statewide Nevada poker rooms has been well documented over the past decade, with 2017 figures from the Chicago Tribune informing readers of an across-the-board decline in the number of poker tables available at Nevada and Las Vegas Strip casinos.

In 2020, there are just over 30 poker rooms located in Las Vegas. However, only a handful of those have enough space to accommodate major events, while several of the smaller venues are only open to the public during specific times and/or days of the week (as will be the case with the new SAHARA Las Vegas poker room).

Still, poker room openings are generally viewed by players and industry observers as a net positive because they represent additional options for real money peer-to-peer gamblers who frequent brick & mortar casinos.

We invite our readers to follow the @SAHARALasVegas Twitter account for corresponding social media updates, and wish players who patronize the new poker room all the best at the tables.
