“The Rio is our final Las Vegas resort to resume daily operations and as the destination continues to rebound, we look forward to seeing more visitors enjoying all the wonderful amenities our properties across the city have to offer,” said Rio parent company Caesars Entertainment in a March 31st media release.
The world-renowned venue has been home of the annual World Series of Poker since 2005, and has been the site of unforgettable poker championship moments over the years.

However, the event will not take place during the normal months of May-July, according to PokerAtlas information coordinator Kevin Mathers.

Live Poker Gradually Returns, But Online Reigns Supreme for Large MTTs
The gradual return of live poker games has been very positively received by players worldwide. Yet it remains unclear how many individuals a venue can safely accommodate in one location — as witnessed by PokerStars’ recent decision to postpone the PSPC until 2022.
In the meantime, poker players currently enjoy unique opportunities to compete in large-field online events at their own convenience. Targeted regional marketing can be highly effective in bringing hundreds of poker players to an online tournament, says partypoker ambassador and community insider Patrick Leonard.
I just don’t see how it will be appealing to any site to run a live tournament except for marketing/acquisition, but I’d argue getting fairytale stories of $0.01 to $100k is even stronger. What do people think?

How Many Players Will 2021 WSOP Main Event Draw?
Defending WSOP Main Event champion Damian Salas and other bracelet winners are anxiously awaiting news on when the Rio Las Vegas will host the 2021 World Series of Poker.
And while attendance is not expected to return to pre-2020 levels this year, a large televised poker event could provide a huge boost in morale for live poker fans worldwide — assuming land-based conditions continue to improve.
