PokerStars returns to PA

Online poker is back in PA as PokerStars soft-launched in the state on Monday. Pennsylvania becomes the second state were PokerStars is live, having previously opened its doors in New Jersey in 2016. In addition to launching its online poker room, the PokerStars Casino also went live on Monday. PokerStars online sports betting brand, FoxBet, has been operational since the start of the NFL season. With the three products all live, PokerStars/FoxBet becomes the first brand offering a full suite of online gambling.

PokerStars comes to the state through a licensing partnership with the Mount Airy Casino, located in eastern Pennsylvania. To celebrate the launch of online poker in PA, PokerStars is offering $1,000 daily freerolls from November 7th to November 16th as well as a $20,000 Welcome Freeoll on November 17th.

Quick hitters

Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier is the winner of the €550 Colossus on Monday at the final event of WSOP Europe, outlasting a field of 2,738 entrants to win €190,375 and second WSOP bracelet. The partypoker Team Pro last won a WSOP bracelet in 2011 when he took down the $10,000 Seven Card Stud.

The other big story at WSOP Europe was the fight towards the 2019 Player of the Year. Going into the final day, it was down to Daniel Negreanu, Shaun Deeb and Robert Campbell.

Negreanu was the first to hit the rails with a 195th place finish, followed by Campbell, who was knocked out in 149th place. That left Shaun Deeb who remained, who would have needed to finish in 5th place or above to earn enough points to overtake Negreanu for the lead. Shaun Deeb made a run of it, but was knocked out in the Colossus in 11th place, leaving Daniel Negreanu able to secure his third WSOP Player of the Year award. As it stood, Robert Campbell will finish the year in 2nd place, followed by Deeb, Anthony Zinno and Phillip Hui.

Negreanu won the 2019 WSOP POY despite not winning a WSOP bracelet during 2019. He is also the first player to receive the Player of the Year award three times having achieved the honor in 2004 and 2013.

– The partypoker MILLION was canceled over the weekend after players from Day 1D were not loaded into the final day. partypoker explained the situation in a series of tweets that addressed how players would be compensated. Despite the cancelation of the tournament, it will again be held this week with Day 1A kicking off yesterday and the final day set for next Sunday.

Rob Yong also addressed the matter in an apology of his own:

– In Monday’s featured Grinderschool poker training video, we take a look at Gazellig’s final episode of the “Going Deep in the Deep Stack” series. In this episode, Gazellig discusses the strategy involved with the final four players including heads-up play.
