With live poker coming back to cardrooms across the country, more live events are popping up everywhere. Anticipating a continued opening up of live poker, PokerGo is taking advantage of the influx of new tournaments to unveil the new PokerGo Tour, which will include 150 tournaments event across the world and a “first-ever global professional poke ranking system.”
The new PokerGo ranking system aims to be comparable to the ranking systems of the world’s biggest sports.
What exactly is the PokerGo Tour?
The PokerGo Tour is the “tour” of tournaments from across the globe. The tour will consist of 150 tournaments and be highlighted by stops that are featured on PokerGo already, and some events that many poker fans will be familiar with:
- Poker Masters – The annual Poker Masters will run from September 13th to 24th with 12 events, with the best players in the world playing for millions of dollars a coveted Purple Jacket
- US Poker Open
- PokerGo Heads-Up Championship – A new tournament beginning July 12th that will feature 32 top heads-up No Limit Hold’em players in a bracket-style format with a $3.2 million prize pool.
- PokerGo Cup – A new major tournament series hosting eight events from July 1st to July 10th with a $100,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event
- Super High Roller Bowl – Beginning September 26th, this 3-day tournament will require a $300k buy-in and attract the world’s top players. In addition to the prize pool, players can win a special SHRB ring.
The 2021 Tour gets underway from June 3rd to June 14th with the 2021 Poker Open on June 3rd from the PokerGo Studio in Las Vegas.
Most major events will be streamed on the PokerGo platform, which can access for $14.99 per month or $99.99 per year.
What is the PokerGo Tour Ranking system?
Players who play in PokerGo Tour events will earn points for every “in the money” finish in PokerGo Tour events. The number of points credited to a player for a particular cash will account for both the amount of the cash and the size of the buy-in, according to the chart below:
You will notice that big cashes for smaller buy-ins will award the most points. This is due to the relative difficulty of winning a “smaller” buy-in event with many more people.
The cash size will be based on unit size rather than a currency conversion. The one exception is for HKD events, which will be divided by 10.
What are the prizes for the PokerGo Tour Player of the Year?
Standings will be kept throughout the year. The player who is at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the year will be named the “Player of the Year,” which will award a $100,000 prize to the winner.
In addition to first place, a prize will also be awarded for runner-up and 3rd place with prizes paid of $50,000 and $25,000, respectively.
