partypoker partner Rob Yong announced over the weekend that players will soon have an option to change their screen name/alias in preparation for the site’s upcoming WPT Online series.
According to Yong, this May 2021 software update will be similar to the mandatory action that was required by players nearly two years ago, when the site eliminated the use of HUDs and downloadable hand histories.
RT, add user name & @E_Branners will give away 10x WPT Mini $530 Tickets 🎫 KTF Rob

Hand History Data Sharing Grants Unfair Advantage to Select Players
The battle between poker sites and third party hand history sharing services continues to be an issue in the online poker world, even after more than a decade of friction between the two conflicting interests.
On one hand, partypoker’s new alias change will protect poker players who are a target for data cultivation from select “pro” opponents — by requiring those pros to re-identify lesser skilled players and re-enter notes tied to specific screen names.
Yeah it makes sense for security reasons and to help the recreational players as much as possible. I know it’s annoying for tagging and making notes but we need to make poker more accessible to casual players to keep the game alive.

On the other hand, the alias change is viewed as only a temporary inconvenience to hand history amalgamation services.
For this reason, the Dusk Till Dawn poker room owner would eventually like to see partypoker introduce an option for all players to change their screen name every 90 days to enable a more level playing field for all who compete on the site.
Win a WPT Online Seat Now Thru May 7th
