Negreanu Polk Day 25

After Fourth Loss In A Row, Polk Says “There Is Something Truly Magical Going On”

Daniel Negreanu and Doug Polk returned for Day 25 of their High Stakes Feud match on Friday, with Daniel Negreanu hoping to extend his winning streak to four sessions in a row and continue the arduous task of catching Polk over the second half of the challenge.

Action once again kicked off at 5:30 PM ET, where the pair sat down for another long session. Over the course of four hours, Negreanu and Polk grinded another 750 hands in a back and forth match, bringing them to a total of 14,500 hands towards the 25,000 hand challenge goal.

At the end of the day, Negreanu ultimately came out on top once again, winning $27,945.80 against Polk. The victory marked the 4th win in a row and six out of seven for Negreanu. During the stretch, Negreanu has narrowed his deficit from $957,932 on December 10th to $616,722 after the Friday session.

Polk and Negreanu each sat down with the hosts of their respective YouTube channels to give their thoughts on how the action went for the day.

In Negreanu’s post-game interview, he described the session as a “weird one” but noted that both him and Polk played well and that he didn’t think he made any glaring mistakes. As you might expect, Negreanu is pleased with his start during the first three sessions of 2021, where he has knocked off another $156k from Polk’s lead.

Polk, who was once again sporting the usual tanktop, joined Jaime Kerstetter and Gary Blackwood for his post-game interview. Polk was in his usual good spirited mood, but was quick to point out that variance seems to be swinging in Negreanu’s favor.

“I’d have to say there is something truly magical going on. In the last 1500 to 1700 hands, I’ve stacked Negreanu one time and the only time I did was when I boat over boated him.”

Next session on Monday

With the first three sessions of 2021 in the books, Negreanu and Polk take their usual break over the weekend. They will return on Monday with action set to begin at 5:30 PM ET. Poker fans can follow all of the action live from any of the following channels:
