Doug Polk Goes “Card Dead” During Day 24 Of Heads-Up Match With Negreanu

On Wednesday, Daniel Negreanu and Doug Polk sat down for Day 24 of their High Stakes Feud heads-up match, providing poker fans the second evening of high-stakes action of the week.

Coming into the day, Negreanu had won the last two sessions and four out of the last five. But despite the upswing, Negreanu was still down $743,248.28 coming into the day, having chipped off over $200k from Polk’s deficit during that time.

On Wednesday, it was once again all Negreanu as his momentum continued after he took down another $98,572.92 from Polk on the day, improving his win streak to three. With the victory, Polk’s lead now decreases to $644,668.28, the smallest lead Polk has had since December 4th.

Polk and Negreanu once again played a long session on Wednesday — 750 hands over four hours. Through 24 sessions, the pair have now played a total of 13,750 hands of the High Stakes Feud.

Reaction

After the session, Polk said the day was “pretty tough” but that he was “pretty excited to only have lost 2 and a half buy-ins.”

“Basically, we had a lot of situations where we really had to either run the bluff or make a call-down we weren’t super excited about,” before following up with, “I think this is the most card dead I have been in any session of the entire challenge.”

Daniel Negreanu was interviewed on the GG Poker YouTube channel after the match by Patrick Tardif and Brent Hanks. During the sit-down Negreanu went over some notable hands from the session and also reiterated that he continues to be on pace to catch Polk, who needs to win an average of 1 buy-in for the remaining sessions to pull ahead.
