After an exciting action packed session on Friday that included live commentary from Doug Polk, the pair returned for Day 16 of their High Stakes Feud heads-up match on Monday for another big session.
Going into the day, Negreanu had put together three straight wins, albeit smaller than Negreanu would have hoped, winning $18k, $13k, and $47k during the previous sessions. Still, “a win is a win” as Negreanu said and gave him some much needed momentum heading into Monday.
Doug Polk still led by around $514k going into Monday’s session with a total of 7,469 hands played.
What happened during Day 16?
On Monday, Negreanu and Polk played 824 hands during the 4 session with Doug Polk turning his fortunes around and dominating play, taking home around $160,348.99 for the session.
In winning big on Monday, Polk not only breaks Negreanu’s 3-session winning streak, but more importantly, extends his overall lead to $684k after around 8,200 hands. The lead marks Polk’s biggest post-session lead since the heads-up match began earlier this month.
After a break on Friday, Joey Ingram returned with a live stream of the match, where he once again flew solo.
After the session, Polk was in good spirits and said the session could have been even better than what the final number indicated with some better luck:
Good session today. Lots of nice pots. We were an OESD in a 3BP vs KK away from booking a massive win. But any 4 buyin win is still a great session. Looking forward to W/T/F sessions!

Negreanu once again joined the GG Poker YouTube stream after the session to share his thoughts on the day’s play (you can watch it below starting at the 1:01:00 mark):
“It was definitely a battle. I could have quit after two hours., but I felt good. I felt like I was playing well. The big disconnect for me is…missing a lot of draws.”

Big week ahead
On Monday, Doug Polk confirmed that he and Negreanu have penciled in four sessions this week. In addition to the Monday session, they plan to play on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with start times of 5:30 PM ET.
The heavier schedule is due in part to that Negreanu and Polk won’t likely play much the following week the following week due to WSOP Main Event. “Next week will be off or most off,” said Polk.
