Doug Polk Daniel Negreanu Day 12

Polk Has “Dream” Session Against Negreanu On Day 12, Up Nearly $600k Overall

Daniel Negreanu fans might want to sit down for this one.

On Saturday, Negreanu and Polk reconvened for their first session since Wednesday as the pair took a day off on Friday for the Thanksgiving break. The cards started to fly around 5:30 PM ET, but it wasn’t long before Doug Polk took charge to be well on his way to his fourth victory in a row.

After the 3-hour session had finished, Doug Polk had caused nearly $332,178.14 in damage over 684 hands against Negreanu. This was enough to give Polk an overall lead of $596,197.89 through the first 12 sessions. The $332,178.14 victory was the biggest session by far of any player. The $596k lead by Polk at the end of the day marked his highest peak yet during the challenge.

Afterward, Polk did not shy away from saying that luck was on his side, calling the day a “monster” and “dream” session. “Hit everything. Every hero call went right. Every big bluff got through. Every runout gave me the nuts. Every all in went my way. This was the kind of session you dream about.”

For his part, Negreanu said that he was happy with how he played despite the huge loss:

As usual, Daniel Negreanu sat down for an interview on the GG Poker stream after the session to share his thoughts on what went down. Wife Amanda Leatherman shared her reaction and thoughts during the match:

“I guess today was just not my day. But it’s really weird; you are all going to think I’m nuts, but I feel good about the session…he ran hotter than the sun during that session and if he didn’t admit that he would be lying.”

Watch Day 12

Poker fans can watch a replay of the action through a variety of YouTube and Twitch channels. One of the more entertaining streams is the Joey Ingram stream. He once again provided full coverage with co-host Landon Tice and his younger brother, as well as a dancing gorilla during the stream.

Nick Schulman and Jaime Kerstetter also provided commentary on the Doug Polk YouTube channel, which is always worth a watch for their insightful thoughts. Doug Polk joined the broadcast in a celebratory fashion which poker fans can watch at 3:17:00.

Next session coming soon

Daniel Negreanu and Doug Polk will get back on schedule next week, jumping right into their next session on Monday beginning at 5:30 PM ET. Daniel Negreanu will hope to stop the bleeding and reverse what has been a four-session winning streak for Polk. Negreanu says that he will continue to “stick to the process” and that he doesn’t expect much to change from a strategy perspective.
