Global Poker Awards 2021

There Will Be No Global Poker Awards During 2021

You might want to sit down for this if you are a fan of the Global Poker Awards. Last week, PokerGo announced that the 2021 Global Poker Awards would not be happening due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has hampered many events in the poker world over the last year.

The lack of live tournament events during 2020 made a 2021 version of the awards nearly impossible.

Fortunately, there was some good news that came with the announcement.

The Global Poker Awards will return in 2022 and when they do, it will be through a partnership between PokerGo, the Global Poker Index and The Hendon Mob through March 2024.

Eric Danis, the President of Global Poker Index and The Hendon Mob said the following of the return of the Global Poker Awards for 2022.

“We are honored to be a part of celebrating the accomplishments of the most renowned figures in the  poker industry. After having to cancel this year’s ceremony due  to the pandemic, we are so excited to welcome the poker world once again to the Global Poker Awards  in March 2022 and for years to come.”

You can watch a full interview between Jeff Platt and Eric Dani below, where they discuss the merger and what poker fans can expect,

What can poker fans expect?

Unlike the last two years, the Global Poker Awards will be filmed in the PokerGo studios and will be broadcast on the PokerGo streaming service, which poker fans can subscribe to for $14.99 per month or $99.99 per year.

Over 20 awards are expected to be given away, including some which will award the biggest and best in the poker world: GPI Player of the Year, GPI FemalePlayer of the Year, Poker ICON, Players Choice Award for Best All-Around Player and a People’s Choice Award for Hand of the Year.

PokerGo features a variety of exclusive content as well as classic content of many of poker’s all time moments. Poker After Dark, High Stakes Poker and High Stakes Duel are just a few of the new shows available on PokerGo. Poker fans can also enjoy classic broadcasts of the World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour.

The PokerGo Tour

PokerGO has been busy of late, not only increasing the amount of content that offer, but expanding itself in the world of tournament poker.

Last week, PokerGo announced the start of the PokerGo Tour, which will be a big part of PokerGo platform going forward. The tour will include popular favorites such as the Poker Masters, US Poker Open, the Super High Roller Bowl as well as new tournaments such as the PokerGo Cup and the PokerGo Heads-Up Championship.
