What Are Slingo Slots And How Do I Play Them?

Slot games have come a long way in recent years and there are now many different versions of slot games available. Some are incorporated into the slot games as features, such as Free Spins, different types of Wild symbols, or even Megaways.

However, there are also some options available which actually change how slot games play quite considerably. We have seen the rise of games like Cluster Wins games, which don’t rely on reels, but on symbols being clustered together on a grid to create wins.

One of the most recent and somewhat unusual types of slot game, that really does push the boundaries of what a slot can offer, are Slingo slots. In this article, we will explore more about these types of game offer, how they work and of course, we will give you some examples of games you can play (and where you can play them!)

What Are Slingo Slot Games?

The rather unusual name Slingo is actually a portmanteau word which combines ‘slots’ with ‘bingo’ to create ‘slingo’. That is because the game typically has elements of a game of bingo, combined with aspects of a slot (although the slots element is perhaps somewhat more loosely attributed to the game than the bingo elements are).

In a typical game of Slingo, players select the size of their stake. Any winnings are based on this stake amount and are usually multiples of that amount. So for example, a minimum win may be 1x your stake money back, whereas a big value win may be 100x your stake.

Once a stake has been selected and the game begins, a player is then given a game card. This is usually a 5×5 card which contains numbers, similar in style to a bingo card.

As part of the game, the player is also given a number of ‘spins’. These are usually illustrated in some way, either by a counter counting down the number of spins available, or by using graphics or similar to depict this.

On any given spin a player generates five random numbers. If any of the numbers generated match those on your card, they are marked on your card for you.

The aim of Slingo is to complete as much of your card as you can by matching generated numbers with those on your card. The more complete lines you have of five numbers on your Slingo card, the greater the value of the cash prize you win. You do need to land at least a certain number of lines in order to trigger a win (this is usually set at around 3 or 4 lines).

Additional Slingo Bonus Features

To help you, as there are on slot reels, there are also some extra symbols which can be generated on a spin. Popular symbols are Joker symbols (or similar) which allow you to select a number on the line under which the symbol was landed and turn that into a collected number. A Wild symbol allows you to do this for any symbol on your game board.

You can also earn additional Free Spins to your total when you spin which are added to your total.

Once you have played through all your Spins (and any Free Spins awarded) the number of complete lines on your Slingo card is added up and if you have earned a prize, this is awarded.

In some games of Slingo, you can add extra spins to your standard total for a set price based on the size of your wager and the number of numbers you have already marked off your Slingo card. You can elect to play these extra spins, or not.

What Are Some Slingo Slots I Can Play And Where Can I Play Them?

DraftKings Casino is one of a number of casinos that offer an extensive range of Slingo titles. While all these games are very different in terms of how they look and play, they share many of the same features as outlined above.

What you will find though is that there are some slight differences between games, with little tweaks or enhancements based on the title.

A list of the Slingo slots available at DraftKings is as follows:

  • Slingo Advance
  • Slingo Ante Up
  • Slingo Berserk
  • Slingo Carnival
  • Slingo Cascade
  • Slingo Classic 20th Anniversary Edition
  • Slingo Deal or No Deal
  • Slingo Extreme
  • Slingo Fluffy Favourites
  • Slingo Fortunes
  • Slingo Lightning
  • Slingo Lucky Streak
  • Slingo Maximus
  • Slingo Reel Bonus
  • Slingo Reel Extreme
  • Slingo Reel King
  • Slingo Reveal
  • Slingo Riches
  • Slingo Showdown
  • Slingo Starburst
  • Slingo Wild Adventure
  • Slingo Xing Yun Xian
  • Slingo XXXtreme

It is worth noting that a number of these games are based on slot games, with the likes of Slingo Starburst a particularly good example of this.

Is Slingo More A Game Of Bingo, Or More Of A Slot?

While Slingo does contain elements of both slot games and bingo, for me it is very much a form of bingo, that has the occasional slot element thrown in. It is certainly a game that is more like a game of Keno or Bingo than it is a traditional slot game.

That said, there are enough slot elements within the game to ensure that players who primarily enjoy slots will still get plenty of enjoyment out of the game.

In truth though, there is a significant crossover of people who enjoy Keno or Bingo as well as slots, so it is not like any particular group will be alienated by the game and it does offer a nice mix of the elements of both for players to enjoy.
